Selix Technologies, Inc. ("Selix," "we," "us," or "our") helps ecommerce brands see how AI engines talk about their products and act on it. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
It applies to our website at withselix.com (the "Site"), the Selix app, the free AI visibility check, and any related services (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy and to our Terms of Service.
The short version
- We collect what we need to run Selix: your account details, the store data you connect, and basic usage data.
- We never sell personal information.
- Your store data is yours. We use it to run Selix for you, and we never publish anything that names your store or shows your results without your permission.
- When we handle data about shoppers on your store, we do it on your behalf, as your service provider.
- You can ask us to access, export, correct, or delete your data at any time by writing to privacy@withselix.com.
1. Who this policy covers
- Visitors to withselix.com.
- Customers: the businesses that subscribe to Selix, and the people who use Selix on their behalf.
- Shoppers: people who visit a customer's online store where that customer has connected Selix or installed Selix tracking.
For shopper data, Selix acts as a service provider (or "processor") to our customer. The store's own privacy policy governs how that store uses shopper data, and shoppers with questions should contact the store first. Section 9 explains how we help.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you give us
- Account information: your name, work email address, company name, store URL, and role. If you sign in with a third-party account such as Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile image from that provider.
- Free check: the store URL you enter, and your email address if you choose to receive your results.
- Demo bookings and inquiries: your name, email address, store URL, ecommerce platform, and anything else you tell us when you book a call or contact us. Bookings are scheduled through Cal.com.
- Billing information: your billing contact, billing address, plan, and payment history. Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
- Settings and preferences: the shopper questions you track, competitors, brand voice guidance, and other settings you give the Service.
- Communications: support requests, feedback, survey answers, and other messages you send us.
2.2 Information from your connected store
To use Selix, you create API credentials in your store platform (such as Shopify or BigCommerce) and give them to us. With your permission, we access:
- Store credentials: client IDs, client secrets, and access tokens. We store these encrypted.
- Catalog data: products, variants, collections, descriptions, images, prices, and inventory.
- Content: blog posts, pages, FAQs, and product metadata.
- Order data: order IDs, line items, amounts, discount codes, timestamps, and how the order was referred.
Order records from your platform can include shopper details such as names, email addresses, and shipping addresses. Selix does not need that information to work. We limit what we request where the platform allows it, and we never use shopper details for any purpose other than providing the Service to you.
2.3 Information about shoppers (attribution tracking)
If a customer installs the Selix tracking pixel on their store, it collects information about visits to that store so the customer can see which visits and orders came from AI search. This includes:
- a random visitor identifier
- pages viewed, the landing page URL, the referring URL, and campaign (UTM) parameters
- device type, browser type, and timestamps
- checkout and order events
- the consent status the store reports for that visitor
We use this information only to provide attribution to that store. We do not combine it across different stores to build profiles of shoppers, we do not use it for advertising, and we never sell it. The pixel follows the consent settings the store has configured on its platform.
2.4 Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site or use the app, we automatically collect your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring URL, pages viewed, features used, clicks, the date and time of your visit, and your approximate location based on your IP address. We collect this using cookies and similar technologies (see Section 3).
2.5 AI engine data
To measure visibility, we send shopper questions to AI engines (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity) and store their answers, including the brands, products, and sources they name. These questions are about products and categories. They do not contain personal information about you or your shoppers.
When Selix drafts content for you, we send relevant catalog and store content to AI model providers to generate it. We use these providers' business APIs, under terms that do not allow them to use our data to train their models.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Session cookies expire when you close your browser. Persistent cookies stay until they expire or you delete them.
| Type | What it does | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Essential | Keeps you signed in, secures your account, and makes the Service work | Sign-in session, security tokens |
| Preferences | Remembers your settings | Selected store, dashboard view |
| Analytics | Helps us understand how the Site and app are used so we can improve them | Pages viewed, features used, session length (via PostHog) |
We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though parts of the Service may not work without essential cookies. We honor Global Privacy Control signals as a request to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information.
4. How we use information
We use information to:
- Provide the Service: run checks, track visibility across AI engines, draft content, publish only what you approve, attribute orders, and send you insights.
- Run your account: set up and secure your account, process payments, and provide support.
- Communicate with you: send service messages (such as receipts, security alerts, and policy updates), respond to you, and, with your permission where required, send product news and offers.
- Improve Selix: understand how the Service is used, fix problems, and build new features, including aggregated benchmarks and research (see Section 5).
- Keep Selix safe: detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
- Meet legal obligations: comply with law and enforce our Terms of Service.
5. Aggregated and de-identified data
We create aggregated or de-identified information from the data we process, such as which brands AI engines recommend in a product category or average visibility by category. This information cannot reasonably be used to identify you, your store, or any individual. We may use, publish, and share it (for example, in research and benchmarks), and we may keep it after your account is closed.
We will never publish anything that names your store or shows your store's individual results without your permission, and we will not attempt to re-identify de-identified data.
6. How we share information
We do not sell personal information. We share information only as described here:
- Service providers. Companies that help us run Selix, under contracts that limit their use of the data to providing services to us. See the list below.
- AI model providers. As described in Section 2.5.
- Your store platform. When you approve content, we send it to your store so it can be published.
- At your direction. When you ask us to share information, or connect an integration that does.
- Within your organization. Account administrators can see activity in their team's account.
- Business transfers. If Selix is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that deal. Any acquirer will be bound by this Privacy Policy for the information transferred.
- Legal reasons. When we believe in good faith that disclosure is needed to comply with law or legal process, enforce our Terms, address fraud or security issues, or protect the rights, property, or safety of Selix, our users, or the public.

10. Where we process information
Selix is based in the United States, and we process and store information mainly in the United States. Wherever information is processed, we protect it as described in this policy.
11. Children's privacy
Selix is a service for businesses. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA and UK). If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact privacy@withselix.com and we will delete it.
