The short answer
Selix is live: how I landed on the idea, why we launched on October 3, and how to share your feedback.
Today, Selix is live. 🥳
I've been an entrepreneur my entire life. When I was younger, I'd tell almost everyone I talked to, "You should start a company." Having started a few myself, I get it now: it's not for everyone.
For me, building my own successful company has always been my measure of success. I've started three marketing agencies, two of which were acquired by larger agencies, with multiple team members and lots of great clients.
One of my previous companies was selected to be a part of Batch 19 of 500 Startups. That's a story for another day, but I learned a lot in the process.
And of course along the way there were tons of ideas, MVPs built and lessons learned.
Today, with the launch of Selix, I can confidently say, this is the most excited I've been about launching a company.
How I landed on Selix
A few months ago when I started to get the itch to build something new, I went down a rabbit hole researching where different markets and verticals were headed, but I kept coming back to martech.
I looked at all the companies being sold on acquire.com and trustmrr.com. TrustMRR is especially useful for seeing how fast a new product can get to revenue.
I narrowed it down to two ideas: one around AI agents that run experiments across your marketing stack (you can see the landing page here: Promethea) and, of course, an AI visibility platform for ecommerce. It's clear which one I ended up picking.
Having been through the fundraising circuit before, I put together an investor memo to essentially sell myself on the idea that I should build this. I ran the memo by people I respect, past colleagues, angel investors, friends, family, basically anyone that I knew would give me constructive feedback.

And here we are, launching Selix with an actual working product, 11 pilot customers, one agency partner, and an advisor who really knows how to grow ecommerce stores with content.
Why October 3
A Saturday may seem like an odd day to launch a company. Plenty of people would tell me I won't get much launch traffic today, and they're right.
For me, it was about something different. My family is my number one fan, and I'm lucky to have their support 1000%. I was telling my son that I was launching a new company and that we were launching it on October 1st. He looked at me and said, "Why don't you launch on October 3? It's my birthday. It can be your new company's birthday."
Without a second thought, I said, "Done."
It also bought the team two extra days, which the team was very happy about. And it feels like a great sign: Selix and my son now share the same birthday, and I get to celebrate both every year.
Launch day is just day one. What Selix becomes from here depends a lot on the people using it, which is why I want to hear from you.
I built Selix to make shop owners' lives easier, and I want to know if it does. What's confusing, what's missing, what you'd change, what you wish it did. I want to hear all of it, the good and the bad. Email me directly at jenn@withselix.com.
I hope you enjoy using Selix as much as we enjoyed building it.
Thank you for being here on day one. And happy birthday to my son, and to Selix.
